when choosing a cereal choose one that is:
1. High in fiber - (more than 7g of fiber per serving) It will keep you full because fiber takes a longer time to be digested and you wont get the mid-morning hunger you usually get with the high-sugar breakfast cereals. Most people do not get enough fiber each day, this is a great way to increase your fiber intake.
2. Low in sugar (less than 7g per serving)- you can always add Turbinado sugar (a raw cane sugar), agave syrup, or raw honey (offers more health benefits than regular honey) to sweeten it up. You will never add as much sugar on your own (4g of sugar = 1 tsp.)
3. Pair it with plain regular or greek yogurt (0% fat) instead of milk for the healthier dairy option which contain pro biotics and protein.
4. Add fresh fruit such as berries or an orange to round up a healthy nutritious breakfast, now that's a breakfast for champions!
Here is an example of an easy, tasty, and healthy breakfast.
I like this particular cereal from Kashi, its low in sugar, high in fiber, and high in protein. I use a small amount of agave to sweeten it up. I like greek yogurt, but if you think its too tart tasting, regular plain yogurt is fine too. Last, I like to eat pink lady apples, but a banana or orange would be perfect too. :)
For an added nutritional bonus try sprinkling ground flax seed on the yogurt, it will add omega-3s and fiber.
I eat this cereal without any sugar added, but with almond milk sprinkle with cinnamon. After workout I eat Greek yogurt with organic low fat cottage cheese. Do you think its fine or should I change it
