The healthy eating plate is a quick reference to what your plate should look like. It goes on to suggest healthy proteins such as fish, beans, and poultry over red meat and bacon and whole grains such as brown rice over white rice or white bread. It incorporates healthy fats such as olive oil over butter and stresses the important of eating fruits and vegetables of all colors to get all benefits and necessary vitamins.

This way of eating is shown in studies to promote health and avoid certain diseases.
