Kefir

A few weeks ago my dad brought these tibetan mushrooms that you make your own kefir with. I was so interested about it, so I started reading up on tibetan mushrooms and kefir to see if this stuff really works. Kefir is kind of like yogurt with beneficial bacteria but it is in a drinkable consistency, and it has a vast of health benefits. So I started drinking the kefir we made at home, it tastes like buttermilk.
Benefits:
  • Studies show anti-inflammaotry benefits, which like i've said before is super important because many of the chronic diseases such as heart disease are rooted in an inflammatory state
  • Aids in digestion
  • Kefir also is suitable for most people who are lactose-intolerant
  • The bacteria found in kefir can colonize the intestine where it helps with intestinal disorders.
So here is how to tibetan mushrooms look:
Tibetan Mushrooms
You put the mushrooms in milk and the next day you have Kefir!
But you don't have to make your own kefir, you can get it ready. I tried lifeway bio kefir and its a delicious option- just try to buy plain flavor. Have a small serving of 60 calories at breakfast or as a snack.

  1. Does yogurt have anti-inflammtory properies too? or just Kefir. My husband has an inflammatory disease and I would like to incorportate more anit-inflammatory foods into our diet. Just not sure he's like Kefir.

    1. Yes, there is studies out there showing yogurt helping inflammatory diseases such as inflammatory bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis & crohn's disease.) Another great way to reduce inflammation is by increasing omega 3 intakes (fatty fish & flax), which are anti-inflammatory, and decreasing omega-6 (sunflower, safflower, and grapeseed oil) intakes which are pro-inflammatory. Try a fish-oil supplement as well.

  2. Hi,just an advice:you should never let tibetan mushroom come in contact with any metal.I can see in your photo that you use metal sieve, that's why i'm saying.

  3. Allegedly, stainless steel is an exception to this. Present flatwares are usually stainless. Btw, the mushrooms do not seem to be working so powerful since I separated them with metal spoon. Be careful, that might be true!
